Research Books

Students used library time to pick a book to use for their insect research. They enjoyed writing facts on sticky notes. There was lots of excitement and sharing of fun facts!

Oobleck and Slime - Liquid or Solid???

Today was such exciting afternoon! After a previous discussion on the characteristics of  solids, liquids and gases, some students were wanting to know if slime would be a solid  or a liquid. We decided we wanted to explore this further. One student was so helpful in bringing in 3 containers of slime for us to explore! Thank you to this student! Ms. McCullough decided to add in Oobleck to the experiment as well. We described both the solid and liquid characteristics of slime and oobleck then wrote a conclusion on whether it should be classified as a solid, liquid or both and explain why. An Apple a Day

Today, we had 2 nursing students come in to present to us about healthy eating.  We learned about the food groups and how to keep our  bodies healthy and energized. This presentation tied in great to the Healthy Food Challenge happening at our school. Students earning points for having healthy food from the food groups for their snack and lunch! The class the with the most points will earn a prize! Ask your child to help pack their lunches with  healthy foods that they learned about today!

Mixing Colours and Finding Colours in Nature

Mixing Colours Today we learned about primary and secondary colours. We began with the primary colour paints (red, yellow and blue) and took turns mixing them together to create the  secondary colours (orange, green and purple). Finding Colours in Nature As we continue to explore colours, last week we looked at colours that are manufactured such as in a factory.  Today, we looked at natural colours found in nature. We went on a scavenger hunt around the school trying to find as many colours as we  could. Here are just a few of the beautiful pictures students took to show the natural colours around us.
