Fresh Air Friday



We went on a nice walk around the schoolyard and checked out the community garden in the winter. We made some chalk art with our buddies.

Students planned materials to bring in next week to help build their own neighbourhood in 3D. Each student will be making one place in the model community using everyday materials like cardboard, tissue boxes, egg cartons etc. Talk to your child to see what they are building and what materials they want to bring in.

Oobleck and Slime - Liquid or Solid???

Today was such exciting afternoon! After a previous discussion on the characteristics of  solids, liquids and gases, some students were wanting to know if slime would be a solid  or a liquid. We decided we wanted to explore this further. One student was so helpful in bringing in 3 containers of slime for us to explore! Thank you to this student! Ms. McCullough decided to add in Oobleck to the experiment as well. We described both the solid and liquid characteristics of slime and oobleck then wrote a conclusion on whether it should be classified as a solid, liquid or both and explain why. Science

Students are coming home with a labelling of caterpillars and butterfly body parts.  Students should be able to explain how the body parts help in their lives. They are also bringing hone some sheets we did while experimenting  In our “Exploring Liquids” student.
