Food Chains

Today we read the story book, "Pond Circle".  

It helped us looked at food chains.

Energy is passed through this food chain.

We looked at Ecological Pyramid and the different levels of consumers. As you move up the pyramid,

the number of these animals become smaller and smaller.

We learned about decomposers.

They clean up our messes by eating rotting food, poop and dead animals.

In the afternoon,

we explored insects from Alberta.

We saw a few insects in our Discovery Garden and sketched them.

We classified them as insect, arachnid, myriapod 

or crustacean.
Though we didn't expect to see any crustacean in our green garden :)
