Three Communities In Canada

Three Communities In Canada

Vocabulary is important for our discussions and understanding in Social Studies. It is especially important for ELL students to hear these words used in their home language. We will be learning and using these key terms over the next two months to begin the study of the Canadian community of Iqaluit. The start we need to learn where and what is Canada. What are some special parts of the land and water?

Vocabulary

city, town, community, goods, services, natural resource, jobs, tourism, map, globe, north, south, east and west, animal adaptations, river, ocean, lake, pond, hills, mountains, forests, Inuit, province, territory

The Capital Song by Canadian icon Stompin' Tom Connors is old but I really love it. We don't need to learn all the provinces and capitals but we need to understand the idea what a province is. It's just a really fun song! If you have a moment, give it a listen with your child. (be aware there are ads that you will want to skip and close at the beginning)
