Fun Clubs for our Last Week of School Before Winter Break

Leadership Club has been busy planning mini events for students in the school. Leadership students will be hosting sessions from December 17-21, 2018. The club information is as follows:

Monday December 17:
  • 2:35-2:50pm - Reading Club for Gr 1 -3 in Rm 10. (No reading club in the library)
On the last day of reading, we are going to get the kids to write holiday words they know to go with the story.
  • 12:10 – 12:35pm-  Arts and Writing for Gr 1-3 in Rm 8.  

Tuesday December 18:
  • 2:35-2:50pm – Math games for Gr 1-5 in Rm 9
  • 2:35 – 2:50pm – Technology for Gr. 1-2 in Rm 8. How to draw and design on the I-Pads.

Thursday December 20:
  • 2:35-2:50pm – Arts and Writing for Gr. 1-3 in Rm 8. Repeat session from Monday
  • 12:10 – 12:35pm – Intramurals for Gr. 4-6 in the gym

Polar Bear Club is for Gr 1-3 students on a Blue Dot day.

Oobleck and Slime - Liquid or Solid???

Today was such exciting afternoon! After a previous discussion on the characteristics of  solids, liquids and gases, some students were wanting to know if slime would be a solid  or a liquid. We decided we wanted to explore this further. One student was so helpful in bringing in 3 containers of slime for us to explore! Thank you to this student! Ms. McCullough decided to add in Oobleck to the experiment as well. We described both the solid and liquid characteristics of slime and oobleck then wrote a conclusion on whether it should be classified as a solid, liquid or both and explain why. Students are coming home with a labelling of caterpillars and butterfly body parts.  Students should be able to explain how the body parts help in their lives. They are also bringing hone some sheets we did while experimenting  In our “Exploring Liquids” student.
