The Important Book - Video - Please Watch

Please watch The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown. You may recognize her name. She is the same author that wrote Good Night Moon!

After watching have a family discussion about what the most important thing is in your family.

Grade 2 students can complete this sentence on their own.
"The important thing about my family is that we ........"

Grade 1 students may need more support in completing the sentence. Parents at home, please help them sound out words and leave spaces between each word. Right now, writing down the sounds they hear is more important than spelling words correctly.

I'm sending home small blue slips of paper for the kids to write on but it can just be jotted down on any paper.

We will use these responses on Tuesday to write our own 'important' poem!

Today was such exciting afternoon! After a previous discussion on the characteristics of  solids, liquids and gases, some students were wanting to know if slime would be a solid  or a liquid. We decided we wanted to explore this further. One student was so helpful in bringing in 3 containers of slime for us to explore! Thank you to this student! Ms. McCullough decided to add in Oobleck to the experiment as well. We described both the solid and liquid characteristics of slime and oobleck then wrote a conclusion on whether it should be classified as a solid, liquid or both and explain why. Students are coming home with a labelling of caterpillars and butterfly body parts.  Students should be able to explain how the body parts help in their lives. They are also bringing hone some sheets we did while experimenting  In our “Exploring Liquids” student.
